Materials:

• Career planning lesson (see below for printable lesson)

• Lesson worksheets

 

Procedure:

Print out the lesson and either let students read it themselves, or use the lesson for teaching a career planning lesson.

 

Points to highlight:

• Basic steps for career planning

• Start with learning about yourself

• Don’t just assume that what you think is correct – use various resources

• Rate your answers and don’t put emphasis on the unimportant ones when doing a job search

• Investigate careers broadly at first – ask the same types of questions you asked yourself

• Compare your potential choices with your important elements – find the matches

• Investigate those matches in more depth

 

Assessment:

Use the worksheet to test students' knowledge and understanding of the career planning lesson material.
