BASIC MATH:

Introduction to Fractions

Understand the basic components and concepts of fractions.

Introduction: Looking around the world we live in, there are many instances where fractions are at work in our daily lives.  We see stores that allow us to take 30% off the regular price on a sale item; the fuel gauges in our cars indicate how much gas is left in our fuel tanks; we tell our boss that the annual budget report is about half way completed – just to name a few examples of fractions at work.  Often times, the only distinctions in the fractions that we see are how they are expressed.
