Aim:
To define some of the key attributes of the
effective leader.
One copy per student of the
comprehension passage and
activity sheet(see below
)
Whiteboard
Method:
Introduce the topic by
explaining that strong
leadership is essential to
implement innovation and change
in business. Have the students
read the text.
Work through the activities.
Debrief:
Compile a list of leaders chosen
by the students on the
whiteboard.
Ask the people who nominated
each leader what qualities the
leader exemplifies.
Write a list of unsuitable
leadership qualities on the
board after consultation with
group.
Ask one or two students to read
out their paragraphs from
activity 3.
Sum up that a boss may require
people to obey because of the
position s/he occupies but that
this is not in itself enough for
good leadership. A leader will
inspire and motivate so that the
group is empowered to achieve.
