Percent of Decrease
When the price of an item changes over time, we calculate the amount of the change by using a percent. If the price goes up, we call it a percent of increase. When the price goes down, we call this a percent of decrease.
What is a percent of decrease?
When we talk about a percent of decrease, we are talking about the percent that represents a change in pricing over time. To calculate this percent, we have to look at the original price and then we look at the new price. We use these two prices to calculate the percent that the price has decreased over time.
How do we calculate the percent of decrease?
To calculate the percent of decrease, we first need to compare the difference between the original and the new prices as a ratio. Let’s look at an example.
