What you see
- Your next payment, with the day of the week and how many days away.
- Every published date ahead, month by month, through December 2027.
- Why a payment comes early: the weekend or the holiday that moved it, and whose month it is for.
- A reminder by email the day before, or the morning of. It names no one and no amount.
- A printed year and a file for your phone’s calendar.
The problem it solves
Social Security pays on different days for different people, and the day moves when it lands on a holiday or a weekend. That is why an SSI payment sometimes arrives at the end of the month before, why some months seem to have two payments and others none, and why a payment can look late when it is right on time. The calendar works out which dates are yours from SSA’s own published schedule, and tells you the day before.
An example from SSA’s 2026 calendar. Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, so people paid on the second Wednesday are paid on Tuesday, November 10. And January 1 is a holiday, so January 2027’s SSI arrives on Thursday, December 31, 2026: it is January’s payment, not an extra December one.
How it works

Social Security, SSI (Supplemental Security Income) or both.
Answer two questions
For Social Security: did it start before May 1997, and in which part of the month was the worker born (the 1st–10th, 11th–20th or 21st–31st)? Only the range is used.

How Social Security sets the dates
| Who | Paid on |
|---|---|
| Social Security that started in May 1997 or later, birth date on the 1st–10th | The second Wednesday of the month |
| … birth date on the 11th–20th | The third Wednesday |
| … birth date on the 21st–31st | The fourth Wednesday |
| Social Security that started before May 1997, or Social Security together with SSI | The 3rd of the month |
| SSI | The 1st of the month |
| Any of these on a weekend or a federal holiday | The business day before |
For spouse, survivor or child benefits, SSA uses the birth date of the worker whose record the benefits are paid on. Banks post deposits at different times of day; a paper check needs mail time.
January’s payment
Social Security announces next year’s cost-of-living adjustment in October. If you add your monthly amount before deductions to a saved calendar, it shows about what January’s payment comes to, and the change in the standard Medicare Part B premium once that is announced. It is an estimate: your December letter from Social Security has the exact amount.
Questions people ask
Do you need my Social Security number or birth date?
No. The calendar asks only which part of the month the worker was born in, and keeps only the payment group that answer gives. It never asks for a Social Security number, a full birth date, a bank or an SSA login.
I get spouse or survivor benefits. Whose birth date counts?
The worker’s: SSA pays spouse, survivor and child benefits on the day set by the birth date of the person whose work record they are paid on.
Why did I get two SSI payments one month and none the next?
When the 1st falls on a weekend or a holiday, SSI is paid on the business day before, which can be in the previous month. The calendar marks each one with the month it is for.
Can I keep a calendar for my mother?
Yes, with her permission. Give it a nickname like “Mom’s payments”; the reminder email never names her.
My payment did not arrive. What now?
For direct deposit, check with the bank first. For a paper check, SSA asks you to allow three more mailing days. Then call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or sign in to your my Social Security account. Social Security never demands payment by gift card, wire transfer or cryptocurrency.
What does it cost?
It is free, with the same account as Money Assistant and the other apps.
