Featured Resource
Balancing a Checkbook Worksheet Generator
Every worksheet gives students a bank statement and a checkbook register that do not match — some checks and deposits have not cleared the bank yet. Students list the outstanding items and work a blank reconciliation form to prove the account balances, the same way it is done on the back of a real statement. Choose the number of transactions and whether to use cents, then print with a built-in answer key or generate a fresh version any time.
Includes a blank reconciliation form.
Answer key built in.
How It Works
Reconciling in four steps
Every resource on this page teaches the same four moves. Once students can do these, a checkbook, a debit-card account, and a banking app all reconcile the same way.
- Step 1Update the registerAdd anything the bank recorded that the student did not — interest earned, service charges, ATM fees.
- Step 2Check off what clearedMark every check paid and every deposit credited, then list the outstanding ones.
- Step 3Work the formStatement ending balance, minus checks outstanding, plus deposits outstanding.
- Step 4Prove itThe total should equal the register balance. If it does not, there is an error to find.
