Lesson plan
Estimated time: one 45–60 minute class period (extend with the workshop activities).
Lesson sequence
- Introduction (10 min). Introduce money management as the umbrella over budgeting, saving, spending, debt, credit, and investing.
- Watch the video (15 min). Play the lesson video. Ask students to note each piece of money management it covers.
- Discussion (12 min). Cover how budgeting, saving and emergency funds, smart spending (needs vs. wants), debt and credit, and investing each contribute to financial health.
- Activity (10 min). Students build a quick sample budget and set one short-term and one long-term financial goal.
- Quiz (8 min). Students complete the printable quiz; the answer key is included for teacher use.
