In the Classroom
Six ways to use it
Multiplying money
Multiply the price per share by the number of shares — the core skill every row builds on.
Investing basics
Ties multiplication to a real idea: what it costs to buy stock in a company.
Reading a table
Students read the company, price, and share count from a table before they solve.
Decimals & whole numbers
Multiply a dollars-and-cents price by a whole number of shares (or whole-dollar prices for an easier start).
Money accuracy
The price is an exact amount and shares are a whole number, so every total checks out to the cent.
Larger products
Turn up the number of shares for bigger multiplication practice.
What It Teaches
Money skills students build
Buying stock is money multiplication with a real, motivating frame: a share is a piece of a company, and the cost is simply the price per share times the number of shares. Students read a company, its price, and a share count, then multiply to find the total — whole dollars at first, dollars-and-cents later. Pair this with the reading stock tables and investing lessons for more practice.
- Multiply a price per share by a number of shares
- Find the total cost of buying stock
- Read a company, price, and share count from a table
- Multiply dollars-and-cents prices by whole numbers

Buying Stocks Worksheet FAQ
Do I need a membership to use this generator?
Yes — the generator is a full Money Instructor membership feature (the paid plan, not a free account). Full members can make and print unlimited worksheets with answer keys. The page itself is free to read.
What does the worksheet look like?
A table with a company, a price per share, and a number of shares on each row, plus a blank Total Cost column for students to fill in. An optional answer key prints every total.
How do students find the answers?
They multiply the price per share by the number of shares: Total Cost = Price per Share × Shares.
Can I control the difficulty?
Yes. Choose whole-dollar or dollars-and-cents prices, set the largest number of shares (up to 100), and pick how many stocks appear.
Are the company names real?
No — the companies and prices are made up for practice, so the worksheet never shows real (or dated) stock prices. The math works exactly the same way.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Keep Include answer key on and the tool fills in every total. Set Number of worksheets up to 5 for different versions.
