What It Teaches
Money skills students build
Counting money is one of the very first money skills children learn, and it builds two things at once: recognizing coins by their look and size, and adding their values to find a total. Each row of this worksheet shows a group of coins (and bills, if you choose), and students write the amount. Start with plain coins so students recall each value, or show the values as a scaffold. When students are confident, move up to the food shopping and shopping list worksheets, and the rest of the money math lessons.

How does the worksheet work?
Each row shows a group of coins (and bills, if you turn them on). Students count the money and write the total amount on the line. The answer key lists every total. Press New version for a fresh set of coins any time.
What do the coins look like?
You choose from four styles. Realistic coins (default) are true-to-life color pictures of the real US coins; Line-art coins are clean black-and-white drawings that save ink and print crisply; Simple coins show the coin’s name; and Show values prints the value on each coin as a scaffold for beginners. With realistic and line-art coins, students identify each coin and recall its value — the real skill. All print cleanly and the coins are shown at actual size.
Can I choose which coins to use?
Yes. Toggle pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, and dollar coins, and optionally include $1–$20 bills. Set how many coins per row and whether the count varies row to row.
