Make a worksheet in four steps

  1. Choose the questions. Set how many questions (4 to 12) and how many transactions appear on the statement.
  2. Set the difficulty. Turn the finance charge on to teach carried-over balances, or off for a simpler paid-in-full statement.
  3. Generate. Press Generate worksheet — the tool builds a fresh statement and a matching set of questions.
  4. Print or grade. Keep Include answer key on to print every answer, or press ↻ New version for a fresh statement.

Six ways to use it

Reading a real statement

Students practice the real-world skill of reading a credit card statement and finding the figures that matter.

Finance charges & interest

See how a 1.5% monthly finance charge is added when a balance isn’t paid off — the cost of carrying credit card debt.

Available credit & limits

Work out available credit from the credit line and the new balance — how much room is left to spend.

Minimum payments

Find the minimum payment due and discuss why paying only the minimum keeps a balance growing.

Budgeting & money management

Connect a monthly statement to real budgeting: what was charged, what was paid, and what is still owed.

Sub plans & homeschool

A no-prep, self-checking worksheet with an answer key — a new statement every time.

Money skills students build

Reading a credit card statement is a core consumer-finance skill: students learn where to find the balance, the available credit, the minimum payment, and the finance charge — and they see first-hand how carrying a balance adds a monthly finance charge. Pair this with the credit lessons, the credit card statement (find the errors) generator, and the compound interest generator for a full credit and interest lesson.

  • Read a credit card statement and find each figure
  • Calculate available credit from the credit line and balance
  • Find the minimum payment due
  • Understand how a finance charge is added to an unpaid balance
  • Build real-world credit and money-management habits

Credit Card Finance Charge Worksheet FAQ

Do I need a membership to use this generator?

Yes — the generator is a full Money Instructor membership feature (the paid plan, not a free account). Full members can make and print unlimited worksheets with answer keys. The page itself is free to read.

How does the worksheet work?

Each worksheet shows students a complete credit card statement — account details, a summary of balances, and a list of transactions. Students read the statement and answer questions about it, such as the new balance, available credit, minimum payment, purchases, payments, and the finance charge.

What is the finance charge?

When the cardholder doesn’t pay off the full balance, the unpaid amount carries over and a 1.5% monthly finance charge is added. Turn the finance charge on to teach how carrying a balance costs money, or off for a simpler statement that was paid in full.

Can I control the difficulty?

Yes. Choose the number of questions, the number of transactions on the statement, and whether to include a finance charge. More transactions and the finance charge make the statement harder to read.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Keep Include answer key on and the tool prints the answer to every question. Set Number of worksheets up to 5 for different versions.

Can I personalize the worksheet?

Yes — add your students’ names and they appear as the cardholder on the statement, so each worksheet feels personal.
