Common Questions
How Many Cents? Worksheet FAQ
Do I need a membership to use this generator?
Yes — the generator is a full Money Instructor membership feature (the paid plan, not a free account). Full members can make and print unlimited worksheets with answer keys. The page itself is free to read.
What kind of problems does it make?
Coin word problems: each names a student with a handful of coins (for example, “Maya has 3 nickels, 2 dimes, and 4 pennies”) and asks how many cents that is. Each set is randomly generated.
Which coins can I include?
Any mix of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and half-dollars. Start with pennies and nickels for beginners, then add the higher-value coins. You also set the most of each coin per problem.
Can I control the difficulty?
Yes. Fewer coin types and a smaller “most of each coin” make easier problems; adding quarters and half-dollars and a larger maximum makes them harder. Choose how many questions, too.
Are the answers exact?
Yes. Every total is computed to the exact cent from the coin values, so the answer key always matches.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Keep Include answer key on and the tool prints the total for every problem. Set Number of worksheets up to 5 for different versions.
