Six ways to use it

Intro to inflation

A concrete first look at how prices rise over time and why things cost more later.

Percent of an amount

Finding the price increase is applied percent math — a percent of a dollar amount.

Real-world economics

Connect a core economics idea to everyday prices students recognize.

Differentiate the math

Pre-fill the price-increase column so students only find the future price, or leave it blank for full practice.

Economics & money units

Drop into an economics, budgeting or money-skills unit as a warm-up or exit ticket.

Sub plans & homeschool

A self-checking, no-prep worksheet with an answer key for instant grading.

Money skills students build

Inflation is a core economics idea: prices rise over time, so the same money buys less. Students practice finding a price increase and a future price — reinforcing percent and addition in a real context. Pair this with the inflation explained lesson and the compound interest generator for how money grows the other way.

  • Understand inflation — prices rise over time, so money buys less later
  • Find a price increase: price today × the inflation rate
  • Calculate a future price: price today + price increase
  • Take a percent of a dollar amount and apply it to a real price
  • See why the same item costs more next year than it does today

Inflation Worksheet FAQ

Do I need a membership to use this generator?

Yes — the generator is a full Money Instructor membership feature (the paid plan, not a free account). Full members can make and print unlimited worksheets with answer keys. The page itself is free to read.

What is inflation?

Inflation is the rise in prices over time, which means the same money buys less in the future. If an item costs more next year than it does today, that increase is caused by inflation.

How do students find the future price?

They find the price increase (price today × the inflation rate), then add it to the price today: future price = price today + price increase.

Can I change the price size?

Yes. Choose prices up to $100, $1,000 or $10,000 so the worksheet fits your students.

Can students just calculate the future price?

Yes — turn on Pre-fill the Price Increase column and the increase is filled in, so students only compute the future price.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Keep Include answer key on and the tool prints the price increase and future price for every row. Set Number of worksheets up to 5 for different versions.
