Money Number Series Worksheet Generator
Make skip-counting worksheets in money. Each item prints a short series of amounts a fixed step apart with one amount missing — 50¢, 75¢, ____, $1.25 — and the student fills the blank. Count on by pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, fifty cents, a dollar or five dollars; count forwards or backwards; set the highest amount and the whole series stays inside it. Print with a built-in answer key. Included with your full Money Instructor membership.

How It Works
Make a worksheet in four steps
- Choose the step. Count on by a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, fifty cents, a dollar or five dollars.
- Choose the ceiling. Set the highest amount — every series is built to stay at or under it.
- Set the difficulty. Three to six amounts in a series, counting forwards or backwards, and whether the blank can be the very first amount.
- Print or grade. Keep Include answer key on for the completed series, or press ↻ New version for a fresh set.
In the Classroom
Six ways to use it
Skip counting in money
Counting on by a dime is how a child totals a handful of dimes.
Coin fluency
The step is a real coin, so the pattern and the money are the same lesson.
Number patterns
Find the rule, then use it — forwards or backwards.
Warm-ups & morning work
Short items, a whole sheet in a few minutes.
Intervention
Whole dollars or single coins, as small a step as you need.
Sub plans & homeschool
A no-prep, self-checking worksheet with an answer key.
What It Teaches
Money skills students build
Counting on by five is a number skill. Counting on by a nickel is a money skill, and it is the one that lets a child total a pile of coins without adding them one at a time. Pair it with the skip counting coins generator, which counts pictured coins, and with the counting money lessons.
- Find the step in a series of money amounts
- Count on and back by a coin or a dollar
- Fill a missing amount from the amounts around it
- Read amounts written as cents and as dollars
- Build the fluency that makes counting a handful of coins quick
Common Questions
Money Number Series Worksheet FAQ
Do I need a membership to use this generator?
Yes — the generator is a full Money Instructor membership feature (the paid plan, not a free account). The page itself is free to read.
Can a series run past the amount I set?
No. The starting amount is chosen so the whole series fits at or under your ceiling, so a sheet set to “count to $1.00” never prints $1.35. (The original 1990s worksheet did.)
Why is the blank never the first amount?
Because a child counting on needs something to count from. Turn on Blank can be the first amount if you want the harder version, where students have to work backwards to find it.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Keep Include answer key on and the completed series prints with the missing amount filled in. Set Number of worksheets up to 5 for different versions.
