Build your sales invoice worksheet

Make a worksheet in four steps

  1. Pick the level. Level 1 has 2–3 items with whole-dollar prices and no tax; Levels 2–3 add cents and sales tax. Set how many invoices per worksheet.
  2. Generate. Press Generate worksheet — the tool writes a fresh, itemized office-supply sales invoice with a vendor and a customer.
  3. Students solve. They multiply Quantity by Price Each for each line Total, then add the SUBTOTAL, figure the TAX, and find the TOTAL.
  4. Print or grade. Keep Include answer key on to print the answers, or press ↻ New version for a fresh invoice.

Six ways to use it

Multiplying money

Multiply Quantity × Price Each to find each line Total — the core invoice skill.

Adding an invoice

Add the line totals to find the SUBTOTAL of a real sales invoice.

Sales tax

Apply a tax percentage to the SUBTOTAL and add it to find the TOTAL.

Reading an invoice

Practice the everyday skill of reading and completing an itemized bill.

Decimals & place value

Line totals reinforce multiplying and adding dollars-and-cents amounts.

Money accuracy

Every amount is exact to the cent, so the answer key always checks out.

Money skills students build

A sales invoice puts multiplication and addition in a real business context. Students multiply a quantity by a price each, add a column of line totals for the subtotal, figure a sales tax, and find the total — the same math a real invoice needs. Pair this with the grocery store receipt and restaurant guest check generators for more itemized-bill practice.

  • Multiply Quantity × Price Each to find each line Total
  • Add the line totals to find the SUBTOTAL
  • Apply a tax percentage and add it to the total
  • Find the TOTAL of a completed invoice
  • Read and complete a real sales invoice

Sales Invoice Worksheet FAQ

Do I need a membership to use this generator?

Yes — the generator is a full Money Instructor membership feature (the paid plan, not a free account). Full members can make and print unlimited worksheets with answer keys. The page itself is free to read.

What does the worksheet look like?

Each worksheet prints one or more itemized office-supply sales invoices — a vendor, a customer, and a list of items with a quantity and a price each. The Total column is left blank; students multiply to fill it in, then complete the SUBTOTAL, TAX, and TOTAL.

How is this different from the receipt generators?

On the grocery receipt and restaurant guest check, each line’s total is already printed and students only add. On a sales invoice the Total column is blank — students multiply Quantity × Price Each for every line first, so this generator practices multiplication as well as addition.

Can I control the difficulty?

Yes. Level 1 has 2–3 items with whole-dollar prices and no tax (clean multiplication). Level 2 has 3–4 items with cents and tax. Level 3 has 4–6 items with tax. Choose how many invoices appear on each worksheet.

Are the answers exact?

Yes. Every line total is Quantity × Price Each to the exact cent, so the SUBTOTAL, TAX, and TOTAL all reconcile exactly — no rounding surprises.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Keep Include answer key on and the tool fills in every Total, SUBTOTAL, TAX, and TOTAL. Set Number of worksheets up to 5 for different versions.
