TEACHING MONEY MATTERS LESSON IDEA
Here is a
money skills
lesson idea from one of our teaching members:
 |
I used this lesson in my
special education class to teach money skills to
my students. This can serve as a lesson on money
matters or budgeting and even check writing.
|
Materials:
- Fake
money
-
Fake checks
- poster paper
I first talked about money and
the use of it. Next, I asked the students how
and what type of jobs they would need to secure
the future they wanted.
After a few minutes of open
discussion of these questions, I showed a large
poster board I created with all the students
names and an amount to be determined by the
teacher.
I then hand out fake money to
each class member. The amount again can be
determined by teacher.
Next, I gave a sheet of
charges to each student. These charges can stem
from the students not having pencils, paper, or
needed supplies. If students need to use other
equipment they can be charged for the use of it.
Students are to submit the
money for these charges.
At the end of the class or the
week the student with the most money left will
be awarded a prize.
Students can also be given
money for good deeds in the class for the day or
week.
