Lesson Plan to use with this Worksheet
Use this health insurance worksheet to help students identify
some of the factors when looking at health insurance coverage.
When you go to work for a company, if they
offer health insurance, you may be given a choice of different
health insurance plans and monthly fees. The monthly fees
will be partly dependent on which plan you choose, the coverage of
those plans, and how many people in your family that you need to
insure.
Employee only plans will only cover the health
care for the employee. Married individuals need employee
plus one dependent, or employee plus spouse. Additional
insurance is often needed for employee plus two dependents, or
entire family coverage.
Use the worksheet to help compare different
sample health plan monthly rates.
Discussion question: What other factors may
we look at when deciding on which health care plan to choose? (Quality
of care, company reputation, actual insurance coverage, etc).
Vocabulary: Health Benefits, Insurance,
Dependents, Coverage, premium, HMO. |
